The Role

As a Platform Engineer, you will work directly with the CTO to design and build the systems that power GovSignals — from serverless runtimes to Kubernetes-based infrastructure.

You will architect, implement, and operate high-performance backend services written in TypeScript, deploy them across containerized and edge environments, and build the tools that let product teams ship fast, securely, and with confidence.

Your work defines how software runs at GovSignals — balancing speed, reliability, and scale across our AI-driven platform.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Backend Engineering

• Design and ship backend services in TypeScript, running across serverless and containerized environments (Cloudflare Workers, Node on Kubernetes).

• Build the core systems — data flows, deployment tooling, and runtime frameworks — that power GovSignals’ AI platform.

• Prototype and scale new platform capabilities that make development faster and more consistent.

Developer Experience

• Own CI/CD and automation that make shipping seamless and auditable.

• Create tools and workflows that remove friction and accelerate product delivery.

• Secure Foundations

• Engineer secure-by-default systems with strong automation, minimalism, and clear provenance.

• Balance speed and reliability through simplicity and sound technical design.

Collaboration & Impact

• Partner with Product team to design platform features that multiply their output.

• Work directly with leadership to evolve infrastructure strategy and accelerate developer velocity.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering roles.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and experience building and deploying production services.

• Experience with deploying Docker and Kubernetes in live environments.

• Experience with Postgres and data modeling.

• Proven ability to move across layers, from backend services to runtime deployments, with speed and precision.

Bonus:

• Contributions to open-source platform or infrastructure tooling.

• Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST 800-171, or CMMC frameworks.

• Experience with observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, etc.).

• Interest in AI-assisted engineering or automation of developer workflows.

• Prior startup or early-stage experience with high ownership and rapid iteration.
