Position Summary

As a Platform Developer in our Product Development group, you will be responsible for automating the setup and configuration of both Azure Cloud and on-prem platforms for internal and customer environments. Management and maintenance of our DevOps environment, testlabs, and CBN product development solutions is also in your sphere of responsibility.

 

Responsibilities

IaC Design and Implementation

• Recommend tools and technologies to automate cloud deployments and on-prem equipment configuration.
• Develop code to rapidly deploy automated and manual test environments for Product Development teams in Azure.
• Automate the deployment of hardware devices such as firewalls, switches and virtualization compute/storage.

Kubernetes Platform Design and Implementation

• Research and recommend infrastructure and support components to add to our Kubernetes application deployment environment.
• Establish deployment patterns using Helm to simplify rollout and ensure a consistent environment across cloud and on-prem implementations.

Documentation

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system setup, changes, processes, and procedures.

System Administration

• Install, configure, virtualize, and maintain servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure components.
• Leverage automation tools and scripting languages to enhance outcomes.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning

• Monitor system and database performance, identify issues, and optimize performance.

Security Management

• Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and databases from unauthorized access and threats.

Backup and Recovery

• Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure data protection and availability.

Troubleshooting and Support

• Provide technical support for system and database-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving problems.

 

Education and Knowledge

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering (or related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
• CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator or similar certifications are assets.
• Knowledge of the following:• IaC development
• System administration principles
• Database management principles
• Network protocols
• Security best practices.

Experience

• Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience including the following:• 5+ years of experience in system administration with database exposure.
• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps (or related) position (5+ years preferred)
• 2+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management (5+ years preferred)

Mandatory Requirements

• Language: Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs
• Security Clearance: Ability to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance
