Planner/Estimator – Ship Repair
Summary: The Planner/Estimator is responsible for developing detailed cost and time estimates for ship repair projects, creating work packages, and supporting efficient execution of shipyard operations. This role ensures resources are accurately forecasted and aligned with customer specifications and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
•Review specifications, drawings, and technical documents to prepare cost and schedule estimates.
•Develop labor, material, and subcontractor estimates for ship repair projects.
•Create detailed work packages including scope of work, job instructions, material lists, and schedules.
•Work closely with project managers, contracting, engineers, and production teams to align estimates with actual execution capabilities.
•Participate in customer meetings, bid reviews, and contract negotiations.
•Monitor ongoing jobs to compare actual vs. estimated costs and schedules; recommend corrective actions.
•Maintain estimating databases, historical job records, and cost standards.
•Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred).
•3–5 years of experience in planning/estimating ship repair or heavy industrial projects.
•Strong understanding of ship systems, repair methods, and industrial labor productivity.
•Skilled in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
•Proficiency with MS Excel, estimating software, and scheduling tools.
•Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
•Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on project schedule.
