About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Pipeline Coating Applicator / Technician to join our construction teams on pipeline projects. This role is critical to ensuring the long-term integrity of pipeline assets through the correct preparation, application, inspection and repair of pipeline coating systems in accordance with project specifications and quality requirements.
This role is responsible for the preparation, application and quality assurance of pipeline coating systems, with a strong focus on field joint coatings. You will work closely with construction and QA teams to ensure all coating activities meet specification, environmental requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare pipe surfaces for coating, including cleaning, blasting and surface inspection
Apply field joint coatings in accordance with approved procedures and project specifications
Operate coating and surface preparation equipment and monitor application parameters
Conduct coating inspections including holiday detection, thickness verification and visual checks
Repair coating defects and ensure rectification meets specification and acceptance criteria
Ensure environmental, safety and quality requirements are met during all coating activities
Maintain accurate coating records, inspection results and daily reporting
About You
You are detail-oriented, quality-focused and experienced in pipeline coating works within a construction environment. You understand the importance of surface preparation, correct application techniques and thorough inspection to achieve long-term corrosion protection.
Proven experience in pipeline coating and/or field joint coating on construction projects
Strong understanding of surface preparation, coating application and inspection methods
Experience using coating inspection tools such as holiday detectors and thickness gauges
Ability to interpret specifications, procedures and quality requirements
A strong commitment to safety, environmental controls and quality outcomes
Willingness to work in field-based construction environments and on project rosters as required
