Piano Accompanist (Part-Time) (STF3100)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions –

Piano accompaniment

For choral music ensembles in rehearsal and performance. 

For jazz music ensembles in rehearsal and performance.

For possible instrumental music ensembles in rehearsal and performance.

For annual theatre musical rehearsal and performance

Rehearsals and performances will be days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.

Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

Secondary –

Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Fine Arts Department Chairperson.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Facility and acceptable proficiency with piano/keyboard.

Previous experience in music accompaniment preferred.

Ability to perform accompaniments for advanced choral works with a high level of accuracy, as well as the ability to accurately play all combinations of voice parts in rehearsal.

Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.

Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.

Physical requirements include ability and manual dexterity to play the piano; excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.

Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:

The Piano Accompaniment pay rate is $20.00/hour with actual hours determined by the course and performance schedule. This part-time support staff position is not benefit eligible due to the part-time status.  (KPERS Retirement plan may apply depending on actual number of hours worked).
