Position Overview
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides high-quality rehabilitative care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role is essential in helping patients improve mobility, restore function, and achieve greater independence across the lifespan.
Position Details
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: First Shift (daytime hours)
Department: Rehabilitation Services
Location: Ashe Memorial Hospital, West Jefferson, NC
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities
Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist
Provide therapeutic interventions to improve strength, mobility, and functional independence
Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
Educate patients and families on exercises, safety, and rehabilitation goals
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive treatment environment
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes
Minimum Qualifications
Licensure: Current North Carolina license as a Physical Therapist Assistant
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required
Experience: Prior experience preferred; pediatric experience is a plus
