What will you do?

You will be part of the Micro‑Nanoelectronics and Photonics line within the Advanced Communications Area, developing cutting‑edge photonic technologies with real societal impact. You will advance RF photonics and PIC‑based technologies for next‑generation communications, computation, and sensing, while shaping neuromorphic and energy‑harvesting photonic solutions that enable ultra‑low‑power, scalable systems for edge, aerospace, and security‑critical domains.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Contribute to the strategic evolution of the photonic line by evaluating emerging technologies and guiding innovative solutions from concept through validated implementation.

Drive innovation by proposing new technical ideas and contributing to research and project proposals with clear societal and technological impact.

Lead photonic projects end‑to‑end, translating project requirements into effective technical execution to ensure timely and high‑quality delivery.

Mentor and supervise junior engineers and researchers, fostering technical growth, knowledge sharing, and strong team collaboration.

Support on the design and development of photonic solutions across diverse application domains (including communications, computing, and sensing) from system‑level architecture to integrated circuit layout, modeling and simulation.

Support on the assembly, test, and validation of photonic hardware and early‑stage prototypes, ensuring performance.

We are looking for

Someone with strong communication skills who enjoys working in multidisciplinary teams, contributing collaboratively while taking ownership of technical tasks. The candidate should be detal-oriented problem solver and have a strong interest in innovation, continuous learning, and emerging technologies.

In addition, we require you to have the following experience:

Demonstrated hands‑on experience in at least two of the following photonic domains: RF/microwave photonics, PIC development, photonic packaging and/or assembly, hybrid photonic‑electronic systems.

Experience in project‑oriented environments, including planning, documentation, and coordination of internal teams or external stakeholders.

Solid understanding of underlying physical principles, with proficiency in scientific programming (Python/Matlab) and electromagnetic simulation tools (Lumerical, COMSOL, VPI, etc.).

Hands‑on experimental experience across optical laboratories, cleanroom environments, electronics, or device/system‑level measurements and characterization.

PhD or at least 5 years experience in photonics or related fields.

It would be great that you have...

Background in silicon photonics or other PIC platforms (e.g., InP, SiN, hybrid platforms), including design flows, limitations, fabrication and cleanroom processes.

Experience in project leadership or technical coordination, such as task planning, milestone tracking, and supervision of technical teams.

Knowledge or experience in RF photonics, microwave photonics, or mixed photonic‑electronic systems.

Familiarity with hardware assembly, packaging, and integration of photonic or optoelectronic devices.

Exposure to energy‑harvesting or low‑power photonic systems, or related research areas.

What we offer

Salary: From 32.000€SBA + 10% variable depending on your knowledge, experience and desire. This is the starting point, the idea is to find an agreement during the process.
