Position Summary:
The phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and processing specimens for all patient ages including, but not limited to blood, urine, feces, sputum, pathological specimens, cultures from wounds, and semen. Will perform phlebotomy and EKG’s on patients aged newborn through geriatric, in all units of the Hospital including but not limited to: Intensive Care, Emergency, and Medical/Surgical. Is responsible to enter patient demographics and laboratory information into the laboratory computer system. May participate in gathering of Quality Assurance Data. May perform some laboratory testing under the direct supervision of a licensed Clinical Lab Scientist.
Full-Time Position
Varied Shift-PM and Night Shift, with rotating weekends.
Position role and responsibilities are performed consistent with the California Phlebotomy Regulations.
Qualifications:
Requires Current State of California Phlebotomist License, and Current American Heart Association BCLS certificate.
Ability to perform venipuncture, skin puncture and EKGs. Ability to handle medical specimens and conform to Universal Infection Control Procedures.
