About the role | Mō te tūranga
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Phlebotomist to join our Patient Services team. This is a permanent, part-time position of 25 hours per fortnight.
Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
Customer focus and commitment to providing a high quality of service to internal and external customers with effective interpersonal skills.
A sound knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory operations including safety, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience is desirable, but not essential.
Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential.
Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Technician in Patient Services is essential.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
If you do not yet have your registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand, we will also consider candidates who are in the process of becoming qualified.
