The Team You’ll Work With:
The Office of the Chief of Staff to the Mayor is responsible for the full suite of citywide and agency administrative operations to include scheduling and preparing the Mayor for his daily briefings, meetings, and events. The team led by the Mayor’s Chief of Staff coordinates the operations of the Office of International Affairs, the Office of Operations, the Office of Special Projects and Community Events, the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management, Gracie Mansion, and the Office of Correspondence, the Office of Mass Engagement, the Office of Emerging Markets, and the Office of Sports, Wellness, and Recreation.

The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Philanthropic Liaison will work in the Mayor’s Office under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Staff and in close coordination with the Chief of Staff. The role will support the administration’s efforts to develop a coordinated philanthropic engagement strategy across City Hall and the administration, and strengthen partnerships with philanthropic institutions, private sector leaders, and civic organizations.

This position will help ensure that external partnerships align with the Mayor’s priorities and will support strategic initiatives, including collaboration with the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Staff, the Philanthropic Liaison will be responsible for the following:
- Serve as a primary liaison between City Hall and philanthropic, nonprofit, and private-sector partners to support strategic initiatives aligned with the Mayor’s priorities.
- Support the development and implementation of the administration’s philanthropic engagement strategy, including identifying partnership opportunities, coordinating outreach, and managing external relationships.
- Coordinate philanthropic conversations and opportunities across City Hall and agencies to ensure alignment, avoid duplication, and maintain consistent messaging.
- Develop briefing materials, strategy memos, and action plans for senior leadership engagement with funders, philanthropic organizations, and civic leaders.
- Work closely with the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City to support philanthropic investments in key initiatives and programs.
- Facilitate collaboration across agencies to identify initiatives suitable for philanthropic partnership and innovation pilots and liaise with agencies for initiative implementation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with philanthropic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other external stakeholders.

- You are a strategic thinker who can translate high-level priorities into actionable partnership opportunities and implementation plans.
- You are an excellent communicator with strong writing and presentation skills.
- You are comfortable working independently as well as collaborating on a team.
- You have demonstrated experience working with philanthropic institutions, foundations, or external stakeholders.
- You have experience supporting strategic initiatives, partnerships, or program development.

Special Assistant (MA)-MGRL - 0668A

- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in philanthropy, government, nonprofit leadership, public-private partnerships, or related fields.
