Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Speech and Language Therapist Lead to join a charity-owned specialist school in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This setting supports children and young people aged 5 to 19 years with complex and severe speech, language, and communication needs.

The school provides a highly supportive and structured environment tailored to meet the needs of pupils with significant communication challenges, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

You will lead on the delivery of high-quality speech and language therapy services, supporting both pupils and staff, and driving forward clinical excellence across the provision.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:• Lead and oversee the delivery of Speech and Language Therapy services across the school.• Assess, diagnose, and provide specialist intervention for children and young people with complex SLCN.• Develop and implement individualised therapy programmes tailored to each pupil’s needs.• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior therapists and support staff.• Work collaboratively with education staff, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team.• Contribute to strategic service development and ensure best practice standards are maintained.• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).• HCPC registration and membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).• Significant post-qualification experience working with children with complex speech, language, and communication needs.• Experience working within specialist education settings and/or with severe communication difficulties.• Proven leadership or supervisory experience (or readiness to step into a leadership role).• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
