Your mission:
HelloBetter is a pioneer in the field of digital healthcare. For more than 10 years, we have been developing evidence-based digital health applications for the prevention and treatment of mental health conditions. Our applications cover a variety of areas, including stress management, depression, problematic alcohol use, panic disorder and anxiety, vaginismus, and sleep disorders.
Six of HelloBetter's ten applications are approved as digital health applications. They are available free of charge by prescription to all insured adults in Germany.
In 2025, we've launched Ello. Ello is HelloBetter's AI mental wellness companion that provides evidence-based psychological support for everyday mental health challenges like stress, low mood, and difficult life situations. We've combined our 10 years of digital therapeutics expertise with AI technology to make psychological support more accessible.

As a People Generalist, you’ll keep HelloBetter’s people's experience running smoothly, so every colleague can do their best work. You’ll be the operational backbone of our People & Culture team: turning contracts, onboarding, payroll inputs, and everyday questions into clear, reliable processes that just work. This is a hands-on, people-facing role with real ownership across the employee lifecycle - no strategic HR experience needed, but plenty of room to improve systems, use AI for efficiency, and raise the bar on quality and communication. If you care about craft, clean data, and making others’ workday easier, you’ll feel right at home here.
Your objectives:
• HR Administration (40%): Own the backbone of our People operations. You deliver contract precision, keep Personio data clean and current, ensure reliable absence tracking, and provide payroll-ready inputs on time. You turn data into simple, on-schedule reports leaders can act on.
• Onboarding (25%): Create Day‑1 readiness end-to-end. Contracts and welcomes land on time, access and tools work out of the box, and new joiners feel confident and productive from the start. You close feedback loops quickly and make small improvements that stick.
• Offboarding (10%): Lead respectful, compliant exits with zero loose ends. Access is removed smoothly, references are accurate and timely, Finance has everything they need, and leaver insights are captured consistently.
• Employee Support (25%): Be the calm, trusted first line. You give clear, human answers within 24 hours, demystify benefits, and coach our Junior People Generalist on more complex topics - raising the bar on consistency and quality.
Overall, if the following excites you, this role could be right for you:• Making complex operations look simple - reliably and to a very high standard
• Turning ambiguity into clear steps and frictionless experiences for employees and managers
• Keeping an eye on details without losing sight of outcomes, being proud when nothing breaks
• Caring about craft: clean processes, clean data, clean communication
• Improving systems, leveraging AI, and leaving things better than you found them
• Communicating with expertise and credibility across audiences and enjoy translating HR topics into plain language
Your profile:
Experience & knowledge
Must haves• 2-4 years experience in a People Operations, HR administration or similar role
• Fluent in German & English; you'll write contracts, emails, and support employees in both languages daily
• Solid German labor law knowledge of employment contracts, terminations and working time regulations
• HRIS administration experience (Personio or similar); comfortable with data entry, reporting, system maintenance & improvements
• Contract administration experience; creating, amending and filing employment documents
• Onboarding/offboarding coordination experience; end-to-end ownership of employee lifecycle admin
Nice to Haves• Startup/scale-up background (50-200 employees); you're comfortable when things aren't perfectly structured and can strive through ambiguity
• Event coordination experience for company parties or larger team events
• Additional People Operations topics: Health & safety coordination, benefits administration, visa/relocation support or comparable
Ways of working• Precision and ownership: You spot typos, inconsistencies, and missing info before sending, double-check your work, and keep data clean and reliable
• Clear, audience-aware communication: You write friendly, professional emails, advise managers on standard HR policy questions, and adapt tone for employees, managers, and C‑level
• Collaborative and proactive: You communicate early with clear status updates, adapt well to shifting priorities, and are happy mentoring junior colleagues
• Data- and systems-minded: You enjoy exploring metrics, building simple dashboards, and connecting the dots across processes to spot risks early. You feel comfortable creating reports in Google Sheets without needing to be a full-on pro
• Automation and improvement: You like using AI tools to streamline tasks and tend to suggest practical fixes that actually stick
