Quick Summary

Steadfast Health is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team, where you'll provide evidence-based therapies with unwavering support in a compassionate environment that fosters healing and growth.

Job Description

Steadfast Health was founded to establish a new standard of substance use disorder (SUD) care. Recognizing that traditional treatment methods often fall short of reaching patients when they’re most in need, Steadfast is relentlessly focused on making low-barrier, high quality care accessible to all. We know that the journey to recovery is unique for every individual, and our patient-centered approach ensures we meet patients where they are, providing evidence-based therapies with unwavering support in a compassionate environment that fosters healing and growth.

Role

At Steadfast Health, lived experience is at the center of our care model. As a Peer Support Specialist, your story, insight, and hard-earned wisdom are recognized as core expertise, not an afterthought. You are an equal and trusted member of the treatment team, shaping care in ways only someone who has been there can.

We believe you can’t pour from an empty cup. That’s why we offer reliable schedules, group supervision, peer mentorship, and ongoing training. You can keep growing while protecting your own recovery. For outreach work, we cover mileage and travel time, and we intentionally provide on-the-clock time for you to continue investing in your own recovery.

At Steadfast, your lived experience is not something to leave at the door, it’s your strength.

Some of the Benefits

• Stigma-free workplace & integration into treatment team as a valued equal

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family.

• 401(k) match up to 5% to help you invest in your future.

• 100% employer-paid short-term and long-term disability insurance, plus employer-sponsored life insurance for added peace of mind.

• Generous PTO, floating paid holidays, and paid volunteer days

• Access to Earned Wages: Access up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, giving you flexibility and financial peace of mind.

• Re-Fuel Days: Take four paid days each year to recharge — for mental health, rest, or continuing education.

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Free, confidential access to therapy sessions, legal guidance, financial resources, and health coaching.

• Stable, Balanced Schedule: Full-time weekday hours — no late nights, weekends, or unpredictable shifts — so you can focus on your patients and your life outside of work.

• Growth Through Support: Regular supervision, mentorship, and peer-specific training with an annual CEU stipend.

• Team Connection: Inclusion in daily huddles, care coordination, and a supportive interdisciplinary team that values your voice and perspective.

• Supportive Culture: A collaborative team that listens to and uplifts frontline voices, fostering belonging and trust in every interaction.

Responsibilities:

• Provide peer-based support individuals navigating substance use and recovery utilizing evidence-based techniques, both within the clinic setting and the community at-large

• Share lived experience and model self-directed change to inspire and empower patients.

• Function as key member of daily patient “huddles” by identifying patient-specific obstacles to recovery and recommending therapeutic intervention plans alongside medical and behavioral clinician team members

• Assist clients in developing personal wellness and harm reduction plans, recognizing the recovery journey is personal and varies based on individual circumstances, experiences, and needs.

• Facilitate peer-led support groups and one-on-one coaching sessions.

• Help individuals access harm reduction tools, recovery resources, housing, employment, and community support.

• Educate clients on harm reduction strategies, safer use practices, overdose prevention, and coping skills.

• Advocate for clients within healthcare, housing, and social service systems.

• Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress while upholding confidentiality.

• Adhere to ethical guidelines, non-coercive practices, and trauma-informed care principles.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with substance use and 2 years of sustained recovery, with a demonstrated commitment to personal wellness and harm reduction principles.

• Active certification as a Peer Specialist, in good standing, in state of residence.

• Willingness to obtain certification as a National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) through NAADAC within nine [9] months of start date.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.

• Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals from marginalized communities.

• Knowledge of harm reduction strategies, multiple recovery pathways, and behavioral health resources.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Proficiency in documenting client interactions and using electronic health records (EHRs) preferred.

• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality practices.

• Bilingual abilities (Spanish or other languages) are a plus.

• Location: Canton, OH

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, with one hour of breaks each day.
