At the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS), our mission is to improve the well-being of the County’s most vulnerable residents. DHS operates, influences, and funds essential services worth more than $1 billion annually, supporting over 200,000 residents each year across child welfare, family strengthening and youth programs, behavioral health, homelessness, intellectual disability services, and aging programs.
We are currently seeking Payroll Technician candidates for a consulting opportunity for our downtown office. Ideal candidates will have a solid background in payroll functions including: reviewing time sheets for discrepancies, time worked, time off and approvals as well as working in JD Edwards system to process payroll. This individual will work within Human Resources and provide support for nearly 800 staff members.
This role also includes reviewing financial data and discrepancies, updating time records, and entering data into different databases. Candidates should be comfortable working with hiring managers and department leaders as well as assisting with training staff on entering and approving time. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience working in finance and accounting and experience working in Microsoft Office Suite, JD Edwards or any other payroll system.
If hired for this position, you would be an employee of our partner agency, Donnelly-Boland & Associates working onsite at Allegheny County DHS.
Additional Duties Include:
Reviews time sheets for discrepancies, time worked, time off and approvals.
Verifies questionable information with individuals or their supervisors.
Updates time records. Calculates and updates time available for each employee on the computer and on timesheets.
Generates and distributes new time sheets for each employee.
Enters timesheet information for each employee into the database. Scans processed timesheets into OnBase.
Maintains records to determine dates that employees receive new and/or additional benefit time.
Calculates final number of hours due. Reports to the Personnel Division when requested the last day worked by the employee and the amount of time owed after the last day worked.
