Job Description
We are seeking a Payroll Tax Associate to support federal, state, and local tax compliance within the payroll/PEO industry. This role is responsible for processing tax filings, resolving discrepancies, conducting research, and ensuring all payroll tax requirements are met accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
Research legal issues, tax compliance requirements, and filing positions under federal, state, local, and international tax laws. Coordinate with internal departments on new projects to ensure proper tax liability coverage. Assist in auditing all corporate tax payments. Process payroll tax payments and tax returns, including reconciliations. Verify data accuracy to ensure full compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies. Resolve tax notices and discrepancies through analysis and timely corrections. Provide exceptional customer service to clients regarding payroll tax issues and requests. Maintain up‑to‑date payroll tax knowledge through workshops, resources, and research. Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns for federal, state, and local jurisdictions. Process tax filings and payments via e‑file, batch agent files, mag media, and EFT debit/credit. Maintain accurate status updates and complete tasks within the case management system. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Results‑oriented, with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment under strict deadlines. Strong customer service mindset. Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical‑thinking skills. High attention to detail. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Certification FPC preferred. Minimum 1 year of experience in Payroll, Tax, or related fields. PEO or related industry experience preferred.
