Job Summary
The Payroll Supervisor will oversee payroll operations for 400+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. This role will be responsible for strengthening internal controls, remediating audit findings, and establishing scalable payroll processes as the Company continues to grow.
This position will also reduce reliance on senior leadership for payroll execution and provide oversight of payroll-related compliance, reporting, and process improvements.
About the Role
As the Company scales, payroll operations have become increasingly complex, requiring dedicated oversight and strong internal controls. The Payroll Supervisor will lead payroll processing, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and external providers.
This role will also play a key part in improving tracking of hourly employees, PTO accruals, and employee classifications, as well as evaluating opportunities to optimize payroll-related costs.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing for 400+ employees across multiple states
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Perform and review payroll reconciliations, including:
Reconciling Robo timekeeping to ADP to ensure hours worked match payroll records
Reviewing payroll reports for accuracy prior to processing
Strengthen payroll-related internal controls and remediate audit findings
Manage and maintain employee payroll data, including classifications (hourly vs salaried, full-time vs part-time)
Oversee PTO accrual tracking and usage
Evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Assess and support potential insourcing of Workers’ Compensation administration
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and audits
Partner with HR and Finance to ensure alignment on employee data and reporting
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field
5+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP or similar)
Experience with payroll compliance and internal controls
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior supervisory or management experience
Experience in a public company or SOX environment
Familiarity with timekeeping systems (e.g., Robo or similar)
Experience with Workers’ Compensation administration
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 (DOE and location (KHQ or remote in AZ)
Equity: Stock options
