Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist supports the Payroll department in the day-to-day operation of payroll, sharing ownership of the function of processing payroll.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll for 650+ employees (Union and Non-Union) within multiple states with a strict 1-day processing deadline
Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors
Process certified payroll reports
Maintain employee records in Accounting software
Process new hire paperwork
Assist with processing quarterly and yearly tax reporting
Provide general support with a variety of payroll-related tasks
Assist with additional accounting duties as needed, e.g., Accounts Payable
Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education
High school degree or equivalent
Preferred/Required
Experience with:
Construction Accounting software, preferred
Foundation Accounting Software, strongly preferred
Ability to quickly and efficiently learn new technology and software
Experience working within a Union environment, highly preferred
Strong organizational skills
Proficient typing and computer skills
Ability to establish effective relationships with employees
Proactively complete tasks in a timely manner
Minimum of 3 years of Payroll experience, preferred

Work Environment
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to stand, bend, lift and move intermittently
Ability to withstand extended exposure to a computer monitor, which may at times be straining on the eyes

Travel is primarily local during the business day
Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
