The role

Valtech is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for Colombia, ensuring accuracy, compliance with local regulations, and timely delivery. You will work closely with Finance, Accounting, and People & Culture to maintain precise records, manage monthly payroll activities, and support key financial reporting processes.

Experience with BUK, Dayforce, and Microsoft Dynamics is a strong advantage.

Payroll Processing

• Manage and execute the full payroll cycle for Colombia, including monthly pre-payroll preparation.

• Update and maintain payroll information in BUK and Dayforce, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Handle and resolve employee payroll inquiries through Jira tickets.

• Process medical leaves (EPS) and ensure accurate compliance with local regulations.

• Oversee pension and EPS liability requests, filings, and reconciliations.

• Support People & Culture with social security updates (EPS, pension fund, ARL).

• Contribute to the development, improvement, and implementation of payroll policies and procedures aligned with Colombian law and internal standards.

Accounting & Financial Support

• Perform monthly payroll-related account reconciliations.

• Support corporate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.

• Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.

• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during local and corporate audits, ensuring accuracy and adherence to statutory requirements.

Must have qualifications

• To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA Public Accountant).

• 8+ years of experience in payroll processing, including tax deductions and local payroll compliance.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).

• Ability to audit, reconcile, and balance HR/payroll data with strong analytical capabilities.

• Experience working with large payroll systems (BUK, Novasoft, ADP, Dayforce, or similar).

• English proficiency at B1/B2 level for corporate communication.

• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential information.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

Nice to have qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or Oracle.

• Experience leveraging AI tools for reporting and analytics.

• Demonstrated ability to present business insights for decision-making.

• Strong collaborative attitude and service mindset when working with Finance and other teams.
