Payments Strategy Manager

As Business Strategy Manager you will shape our payments strategy by delivering insight-driven recommendations, identifying new investment opportunities, and supporting leadership decision-making. The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of the strategic judgment, and experience working in cross-functional environments.

Main responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning, Business Insights and Competitive Intelligence

Strategy, insights, and market understanding: Develop and refine the payments strategy in line with company growth objectives; analyze market dynamics, customer needs, and regulatory trends; conduct competitive assessments across geographies, segments, and product lines; and complete market sizing/segmentation to identify untapped opportunities and inform prioritization.

2. Investment evaluation

Identify and evaluate new business and partnership opportunities; perform build, buy, or partner analysis; conduct commercial and financial due diligence; and develop business cases for investments in payment capabilities, technologies, or market entry strategies.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work with product, finance, operations, risk, compliance, and technology teams to align on strategic priorities and support the delivery of key initiatives.
Translating strategy into action: Turn recommendations into actionable plans with clear milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs).

3. Executive and Board support: Prepare materials and briefings for executive leadership, including the Executive Committee (ExCom), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and the Board of Directors; present information clearly to support discussions and decisions; and perform ad hoc analysis and contribute to other strategic projects as needed.

About the ideal candidate

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; a Master’s degree such as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) is welcome.
Experience: Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in strategy consulting or corporate/business unit (BU) strategy ideally within global, matrixed, project-based organizations; experience managing multicultural, multi-site teams.
Payments expertise: Applied understanding of the payments landscape, including emerging trends, regulatory frameworks, and competitive dynamics is desirable.
Industry knowledge: Understanding of the travel industry and the factors shaping market direction (for example, technology evolution, regulation, and competitive dynamics), plus familiarity with Amadeus company fundamentals (history, business, offerings, strategy, technology, and organization) or the ability to learn them quickly is desirable.
Growth mindset: Commitment to continually growing knowledge in new business areas and trends impacting the payments industry.
Proficiency in English.
