We’re currently seeking a highly motivated Pavement Inspector located in Baltimore, MD.
Position Overview:
The Pavement Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting pavement construction activities associated with airport airfield infrastructure, taxiways, runways, aprons, roadways, and other pavement systems. This role supports the Construction Management and Inspection team by ensuring that pavement construction work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, FAA standards, and project quality assurance requirements.
The Pavement Inspector works closely with the Project Manager, Resident Engineer, contractors, and materials testing personnel to verify that pavement construction materials and installation techniques meet project specifications and regulatory standards. The position requires extensive experience in pavement inspection within active commercial airport environments or large industrial facilities where pavement performance and quality are critical.

Required Certifications:
Acceptable credentials for Inspection Staff include the following
Licensed Professional Engineer
Master Electrician License
Master Mechanical HVACR License
NICET Level 3 or higher certification in the relevant inspection field
International Code Council certification in the relevant inspection field
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Pavement Inspector at a medium to large commercial airport or large industrial facility.
Demonstrated experience inspecting pavement construction including asphalt paving, concrete paving, base preparation, and soil stabilization.
Experience observing and verifying construction techniques involving testing of asphalt, concrete, and soils in accordance with industry standards.
Strong understanding of pavement construction practices and quality control procedures.
Experience working in active airport environments or large scale infrastructure construction projects.
The Pavement Inspector must be familiar with FAA pavement construction standards including
FAA P401 asphalt pavement construction specifications
FAA P501 Portland cement concrete pavement construction specifications
FAA pavement placement procedures, testing requirements, and quality assurance and quality control standards.

Responsibilities:
Inspect pavement construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, FAA standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Monitor construction techniques used for placement of asphalt pavement, Portland cement concrete pavement, and associated base materials.
Observe and document placement operations including grading, base preparation, asphalt paving, concrete paving, and joint installation.
Verify that pavement construction materials including asphalt mixtures, concrete mixtures, aggregates, and soils conform to approved mix designs and project specifications.
Observe and document testing activities related to asphalt, concrete, and soils including compaction testing, density testing, concrete strength testing, and other required quality control procedures.
Coordinate with materials testing laboratories and quality assurance personnel to confirm testing procedures and results.
Monitor contractor compliance with FAA P401 and FAA P501 requirements related to pavement placement, curing, finishing, and joint construction.
Inspect pavement surface conditions, thickness, alignment, and finish to verify compliance with project requirements.
Identify deficiencies or nonconforming work and coordinate corrective actions with the Resident Engineer and Construction Management team.
Participate in construction progress meetings and pavement quality review discussions.
Maintain daily inspection reports and detailed documentation of pavement construction activities.
Support final pavement inspections and acceptance processes.
Ensure proper documentation of testing results and pavement quality assurance records.
Salary:
56.30/hr
Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management’s discretion.
