POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Dental Front Office Supervisor, the PSR II - Dental utilizes established procedures to schedule patients, prepare charts, and assist in providing care for patients as appropriate. Ensures efficient and effective flow of patients through joint planning and problem solving with Clinic staff and providers. Ability to keep several tasks moving along in a well-organized, compassionate, and professional manner while functioning at a high level of accuracy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accurately and effectively enters patient packet data and scans documents, verifies accuracy of patient paperwork and updates patient charts and files as needed.
Accurately registers patients at appointment time and completes documents; assists patients as needed to ensure completion of documents.
Screens new patients for eligibility, collects financial and demographic information and accurately prepares patient’s chart. Photocopies insurance or other third-party payor information and photo ID.
Schedules patient visits.
Accurately calculates individual patient charges for services; collects payment and explains payment process; records receipts of fees in practice management system.
Explains treatment plans as needed.
Answers all telephone calls and makes courtesy confirmation calls.
Attends in-services and other required meetings.
Maintains strict confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA policies and procedures.
Masters various registration processes in order to facilitate accurate and efficient registration and maximize collections.
Interacts with patients and employees in a friendly and respectful manner.
Adheres to all Aviva Health and department policies, procedures, and practices.
Other duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:
Strictly adheres to the ethics and Code of Conduct as established by the ADA, Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners, and Aviva Health.
Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently and timely. Works with minimal supervision and demonstrates responsible behavior and attention to detail.
Promotes positive customer relations and service to both internal and external customers by providing customer services to all patients in a non-discriminatory, confidential, professional, friendly manner that builds dignity for each individual customer. Communicates in an easy to understand, friendly, and professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent education.
One-year clerical experience in a dental care setting preferred.
Must possess knowledge of Practice Management, Electronic Dental Records, dental terminology, and office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of collection procedures and laws preferred.
Must be able to type 40WPM.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
In-person work during normal clinic hours.
Remain in stationary position frequently throughout the day while performing administrative duties.
Move or traverse occasionally throughout the day in clinic to perform administrative duties.
Operate equipment frequently throughout the day using a computer, phone, printer, and other standard office equipment.
Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and accurately so others will understand; ability to interact with patients and staff clearly.
Able to move or transport up to 0 pounds.
Typically work indoors in heat-controlled environment.
OSHA Exposure Category – Category #2: The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
