Primary Focus of the Patient Care Secretary Role:
To support the office in all things clerical to ensure our hospice office is running smoothly.
What You Will Be Doing Every Day:
Organizes, sorts, and maintains documentation in patient’s files in a timely manner
Maintains log of patient documentation needing physician signature and ensures those documents are signed by the appropriate physician and filed/uploaded in patient’s files in a timely manner
Prepares for IDG meetings by doing the following: 1. Ensures all IDGs are open 2. Gathers and presents all documentation needing medical director signature 3. Runs IDG reports and ensures all IDGs have been completed and ready to review and sign during IDG
Request medical records for patients upon discharge of GIP/hospital stays, respite stays, transfers, and as directed by the Director of Nursing and/or Patient Care Manager
Orders DME as requested by the RN Case Manager and/or Patient Care Manager and submits for DME pick up upon patient discharge
Submits medical examiner form to medical examiner office upon patient’s death
Notifies patient’s PCP of death via faxing the notification of death form in timely manner
Prints out reports from the patient’s chart for various departments as requested
Provides clerical support which may include preparation of admission, orientation and new hire packets; typing, special projects, filing, coping and creating binders for all nursing facility admits, to include all required documents
Provide effective communication to patient/family, team members, and other health care professionals and maintains confidentiality.
The Background & Education You Will Need To Be Successful:
You will need to be a High School Graduate, with a college degree preferred. In addition to that, one year of general office experience is required. Strong computer skills preferred (in the Google Suite of products), excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with knowledge of medical terminology preferred. You will also need reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
