Patent Information Professional

Do you enjoy diving into patent and non-patent literature to uncover insights that support innovation and informed business decision-making? Envalior is seeking a motivated patent information professional to strengthen our Intellectual Property capabilities.

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting and managing comprehensive, reliable, and timely searches across patent and scientific literature. Your work will support business decision-making process and help secure and protect Envalior’s patent rights. Additionally, you will identify, analyze, and assess potential third-party patent risks for various business activities, and contribute directly to Envalior’s risk management processes by conducting freedom-to-operate evaluations. You will also perform patentability and technology relevance searches, support patent invalidity analyses, and help identify potential partners to support Envalior’s strategic growth.

You will be a colleague of one other Patent Information Professional in the Envalior Intellectual Property (IP) team, which is located in Geleen, the Netherlands, and supports the global Envalior organization.

The role is available as a full-time or part-time position and offers a hybrid work model combining office-based work in Geleen.

Main Responsibilties

• Translate technical information into searchable concepts and conduct comprehensive searches across patent and non-patent literature, including patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate types of searches.
• Review, analyze, and clearly report search findings to the Envalior organization.
• Support and further develop Envalior Patent Alert system.
• Provide technical and statistical insights derived from patent literature within specific technology fields, and/or related to particular markets and companies, to support decision-making within the Envalior organization.
• Monitor and track developments in patent granting procedures.
• Take an active role in identifying, evaluating, and implementing AI-based tools and methodologies to enhance patent search, review, monitoring, and analysis capabilities, demonstrating a strong personal interest in leveraging emerging AI-technologies to improve IP workflows.
• Act as a sparring partner for patent attorneys and internal stakeholders to identify information needs and help translate information into strategic value.
• Streamline search processes in terms of completeness, cost benefit and time considerations.

Requirements:
• Holds a Post - HBO (Master's or equivalent) degree in the field of Chemistry, preferably in polymer science or closely related field.
• Is proficient in modern patent search methodologies and the use of patent databases; or has basic knowledge of these but the motivation to further develop these skills.
• Is able to efficiently extract and analyze relevant information from large volumes of technical (patent) documents.
• Has completed or is willing to complete the “Patent Information Specialist” training in the Netherlands (English-language program).
• Demonstrates technical curiosity and interest beyond their own immediate field of expertise, including emerging digital and AI-based searching tools.
• Is a strong team player who can also work independently, with an analytical, critical, meticulous, and persistent approach.
• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
