Part-Time Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Part-Time Maintenance Technician at the Prairie View Community Center is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility. This role includes performing various maintenance tasks and repairs as needed. Candidates must be capable of lifting heavy objects (over 75 lbs.).
The position requires availability on weekends and various weekdays. Shifts may vary.
Travel to other facilities to perform cleaning and repairs. Fill in for other team members whom may be off.
Education & Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One-year minimum of previous janitorial or maintenance experience. Three years’ minimum experience in Electrical, Plumbing, Plaster/Paint, and Carpentry. Must be self-motivated with good judgment and the ability to work independently.
Immediate Supervisor
The Part-Time Maintenance Technician is under the direct supervision of the Facility Foreman.
Qualifications
Custodial tasks are necessary to maintain a clean appearance on the outside and inside of the Community Center, including snow and ice removal.
Routine maintenance includes cleaning, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, vacuuming, dusting, and washing all floors, walls, windows, carpeting, washroom fixtures, tables, chairs, and any other permanent or movable item or fixture located in the Center Facility.
Check the entire building, both upper and lower levels, at periodic intervals during working hours for safety, security, and maintenance reasons.
You must take proper safety precautions, be aware of potential and existing hazards on the job and attempt to eliminate them.
Positive interaction and cooperation with all Park District staff, which includes the public and facility patrons.
Clean all areas as instructed by Foreman and complete checklists.
Cleaning of the second level, Administration Offices, may be necessary when requested.
Take down set-ups and clean for parties, rentals, and special events.
Electrical, Plumbing, Plaster/Paint, and Carpentry knowledge.
Additional duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid IL Driver’s License.

Worker works unsupervised and may need to seek out supervision when it is needed.

Workers are exposed to odors from cleaning supplies.
Environmental Considerations
Workers are exposed to cold due to automatic temperature control of building during the evening and weekend hours. Worker is exposed to cold, snow and ice when assisting in snow and ice removal at the Center.
