Brigid Collins Family Support Center
Full-Time | 40 Hours per week | Non-Exempt | On-Site | Licensed Associate-Level (LMHCA, LMFTA, or SWAIC)

The Parenting Academy Therapist plays a vital role in supporting families navigating behavioral challenges, mental health concerns, trauma, relationship stress, and complex life transitions. Using evidence-based parent management training interventions, you’ll help strengthen parent–child relationships, build resilience, and promote positive development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist early in their career who is passionate about attachment, parent–child work, and evidence-based interventions, and who is seeking strong supervision, supportive colleagues, and meaningful impact.
Compensation
Starting wage: $30.00/hour
Bilingual add-on: +$1.00/hour for fluency in Spanish or Mixteco
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do
As a Parenting Therapist I, you will provide compassionate, strengths-based therapy to parents and caregivers, helping families build stronger, healthier relationships.
Assessment & Treatment Planning
Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, including interviews, observations, and screenings
Assess family strengths and needs and complete thorough evaluations
Develop collaborative, individualized treatment plans and track client progress
Therapeutic Services
Provide parent–child therapy and parent management training using evidence-based interventions
Support skill-building in positive parenting practices, emotional regulation, communication, and relationship enhancement
Deliver dyadic therapy to strengthen attachment and promote healthy development
Facilitate group seminars and classes that offer psychoeducation and parenting support
Collaboration & Care Coordination
Partner with community agencies, schools, and professionals to ensure coordinated services
Refer families to community resources as needed
Help screen incoming referrals and support triage efforts
Clinical Documentation & Quality Assurance
Maintain accurate, timely, and ethical clinical records
Meet standards for evidence-based program fidelity, training, and quality assurance
Participate in mandatory meetings, group supervision, and continuing education
Professional Development
Attend regular clinical supervision (qualifying for licensure hours)
Participate in ongoing training in evidence-based practices
Demonstrate commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered care
Other Duties
Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the Parenting Academy and agency mission
What You Bring (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Strong understanding of positive discipline, behavior management, and effective communication strategies
Knowledge of child development across cognitive, social-emotional, and physical domains
Ability to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered support
Excellent rapport-building, empathy, and active listening skills
Ability to engage children and caregivers who have experienced adversity or trauma
Flexibility and creativity in adapting interventions to diverse family needs
Strong oral and written communication skills for collaboration with caregivers and professionals
Ability to identify concerns, problem-solve, and connect families with appropriate resources
Effective time management, planning, and documentation skills
Willingness to adjust schedule to meet family availability
Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and professional standards
Comfort working and traveling across Whatcom and Skagit Counties
Qualifications
Master’s degree in mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or a related field
Associate-level licensure with WA State DOH (LMHCA, LMFTA, or SWAIC)—or ability to obtain within 6 months
Eligible to work in the U.S. and able to pass required background checks
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Fluent in English; bilingual Spanish or Mixteco highly preferred
