NYC Parks is the steward of over 30,000 acres of land – 14% of New York City. We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 65 public pools, and 51 recreational facilities. Major Responsibilities
- Under supervision, do inside and outside patching and painting of a general nature, including all coats.
- Prepare, fill and prime surfaces for painting, including public restrooms, recreation centers, play equipment, pools, historic houses, fencing, benches and handball court walls.
- Plaster, patch, sand and tape surfaces as necessary.
- Erect and use ladders, platforms and scaffolding.
- Mix paint components, match colors and utilize brush, roller and spray gun tools.
- Safeguard Parks & Recreation property, tools and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and produce reports pertaining to assigned tasks.
- Interact with staff and the public in a courteous and professional manner.
Duration: 6 months, Spring 2026 to Fall 2026
Work Location: Aramark 850 East 138th Street, Bronx
License Requirement
For appointment to certain positions, candidates will be required to possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
Fees: Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee of $96.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $104.50 background check fee.

1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years; or
2. At least three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years and sufficient full-time satisfactory apprentice painter experience to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of apprentice painter experience.
