Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team at a dynamic, nurturing independent special school in Yateley, Hampshire. The school caters to pupils aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of needs, including speech, language, and communication difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Additionally, the role involves working at a nearby junior setting (Years 3–6) that employs a multisensory, holistic approach to learning, with strong connections to nature, sustainability, and real-world themes.
As a Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with qualified Speech and Language Therapists to support the delivery of therapy interventions, helping students achieve their full potential in a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

Assist in delivering individual and group therapy sessions under the guidance of qualified therapists.
•
Implement therapy interventions and produce resources to support students' communication development.
•
Develop therapeutic relationships with children to encourage engagement and progress.
•
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to therapists and educational staff.
•
Liaise with parents and school staff regarding children's needs and progress.
•
Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions and student progress.
•
Contribute to the preparation of training materials and support the induction of new staff.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
•
Recognised training in Special Educational Needs (desirable).
•
Experience working with children with complex needs (desirable).
•
Strong interpersonal, flexible, and team-focused attitude.
•
Ability to work independently while following therapist guidance.
•
Physically agile and able to work therapeutically at floor/table level.
•
Car driver or reliable means to reach the school site.
