Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Schedule: Mixed 10-hour shifts (varied start times) + On-Call

Shift Examples: 7a–5:30p • 8a–6:30p • 9a–7:30p • 10a–8:30p

On-Call Requirement: Must live within 30 minutes

Pay Range: $27.72–$39.60/hr (experience-based)

Differential: +$2.50/hr after 3 PM

On-Call Pay: $4/hr

Sign-On Bonus: $15,000

Overview

A high-acuity perioperative team in the Panama City area is hiring a PACU RN to deliver post-anesthesia care for surgical patients transitioning from the OR. This role requires strong critical care thinking, airway management skills, and rapid assessment in a fast-paced recovery environment. Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based post-anesthesia nursing care.

• Monitor airway, neuro status, cardiac stability, pain control, and hemodynamics.

• Identify and respond quickly to changes in patient condition.

• Perform wound assessments, surgical site checks, and symptom management.

• Communicate critical information to anesthesia and surgical teams.

• Educate patients/families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions.

• Maintain equipment readiness, safety protocols, and PACU-specific quality standards.

• Participate in rounding, shared governance, and performance improvement initiatives.

Required:

• Minimum 1 year recent PACU RN experience (within last year).

• Florida RN license (or Compact license with FL endorsement within 60 days).

• BLS (within 30 days).

• ACLS & PALS (within 60 days).

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Strongly Preferred:

• Prior Critical Care (ICU) experience in addition to PACU.

Preferred:

• Experience in high-volume perioperative settings.

• Strong clinical judgment and comfort managing post-anesthesia complications.

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2

• Self-Scheduling: Posted 4 weeks in advance

• Support Staff: CNAs, PCTs, Charge RN, internal float pool

• Leadership: Collaborative, visible, supportive
