Overnight HELP Team Outreach Worker
Make a Difference While the City Sleeps
Schedule: Full-Time | 3 days on, 3 days off | 7 PM – 7 AM
Pay: $24.95/hr + $2/hr night premium (11 PM – 7 AM)
The Role:
Join our HELP Team; a high-impact outreach crew supporting individuals facing addiction, mental health challenges, and homelessness.
This isn’t a desk job. You’ll be:
Conducting sweeps, engaging with clients in encampments and hidden areas
Driving outreach vans & transporting clients to safety
Building trust with vulnerable individuals
Thinking on your feet in real-time crisis situations
Showing up in all weather conditions
You’ll work with our partners like CPS, EMS, Bylaw, and Transit to provide compassionate, alternative responses when it matters most.
What You’ll Actually Do
Support clients with empathy, respect, and zero judgment
Conduct outreach in encampments and community spaces
Respond to crises and help de-escalate situations
Advocate for clients and connect them with resources
Complete housing assessments and case documentation
Collaborate with an awesome, supportive team
Represent Alpha House with professionalism and heart
About You
You’re someone who:
Cares deeply about people and community
Stays calm under pressure (even at 3 AM)
Can balance compassion with strong boundaries
Thinks independently and acts decisively
Must Haves
Diploma/Degree from a public post secondary institution in a relevant Human Services
Field (or in progress)
Valid Class 5 (Non-GDL) license + willingness to get Class 4 (we’ll cover it!)
Ability to work outdoors and assist clients physically
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Steel-toe footwear ready to go
Willingness to complete required training
Bonus points if you have:
Experience with case management or assessments
Knowledge of addictions, harm reduction & trauma-informed care
Strong communication & crisis response skills
