About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Line Mechanic and/or Cable Jointer who can deliver projects to a high standard, work well within the team and bring a strong focus on safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Lead field staff onsite and coordinate resources to safely deliver project work to Powerco standards

Receive project handovers from Delivery and Resource Managers and contribute to project planning

Carry out maintenance and asset replacement on overhead and underground distribution network assets

Install underground reticulation, cables, transformers, and switchgear

Replace poles and crossarms on the local network

Perform and document electrical testing in accordance with Electrical Regulations and Codes of Practice

Complete jobs within allocated labour hours and materials

Assist in training apprentices/trainee Line Mechanics

Build strong working relationships with apprentices and team members

Communicate proactively about any issues impacting project delivery or health and safety

Health & Safety Expectations

Take reasonable care to ensure no harm to yourself or others

Actively participate in H&S meetings, processes, and practices

Follow our Critical Risk framework, SWMS, and all safe work procedures

Use appropriate PPE at all times

Report incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly

What We’re Looking For

Full NZ driver’s licence (Class 2 preferred)

NZQA Level 4 Electrical qualification, either Line Mechanic and/or Cable Jointer

Strong aptitude for network distribution work

Sound knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices

Ability to read and interpret plans, schematics, and construction standards

Minimum 5 years’ experience on a distribution network
