MFM Limited Partnership is currently seeking skilled and qualified candidates for the position of Crane Technician (Fly in/Fly out) to join our operation at Kearl Lake. MFM Limited Partnership, a Mikisew Group company, provides comprehensive client services in overhead crane inspection and maintenance
Schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off, 11.50 hours per day. Work is conducted under an Hours of Work Averaging Arrangement (HWAA) - formerly known as a Compressed Work Week.
Work Location: Position will be based at the Kearl Lake facility, located North of Fort McMurray, AB. This is a field position.
This is a Fly In/Fly Out opportunity with camp/accommodations provided. Flights provided from the hub centers of Edmonton, AB and/or Calgary, AB with direct flights to site. Workers are responsible for travel to/from the travel hubs and their residence.
Purpose & Key Accountabilities
Provide comprehensive service for
crane/ lifting equipment inspections, repairs, installations as required by the client.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform crane/lifting equipment inspections, repairs, installations and respond to breakdowns
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
Inspect hoists, cranes, systems, chain falls and pullers, winch systems, vehicle hoists, dock level equipment
Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to determine extent of repairs required
Test each crane repair for complete functionality
Troubleshoot industrial control systems and devices, interpret electrical schematics and code specification
Maintains and track assigned company tools
Maintain the assigned company truck and submit timely truck inspection reports and drivers logs as required
Complete Permits and JSA’s as required
Complete digital inspection reports for all equipment used and inspected
This position requires working at heights, standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, kneeling and crawling
Working Conditions
Work in an industrial setting. Some overtime may be required on occasion.
Qualifications
Experience:
Strong electrical trouble-shooting skills
Strong hydraulic and mechanical skills
Overhead Crane Experience Min Of 10,000 Hours Experience an asset
VFD Trouble Shooting Experience A Plus
Trouble Shooting of Control Circuits Experience
Overhead Crane Training, Rigging, Manlift, Harness Training Experience
Mechanically Inclined
Experience with Stahl, Kone, P&H, Demag, Kito, Yale, CM Hoists
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients as well as internally with operational personnel
Competent understanding of Company/Client procedures
Proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities
Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines
Education:
Journeyperson/Apprentice Electrician or Journeyperson Millwright
Computer proficiency in Windows, MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
Smart phone proficiency
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with satisfactory Driver’s Abstract (less than 6 demerits)
Must be eligible to work on all Mikisew Group Industrial Client sites (no history of Site Access being denied by a client).
A valid ESC Common Safety Orientation certification.
Standard First Aid and Level "C" CPR
Able to successfully obtain clearance of a Pre-access Alcohol & Drug Screening test
Successfully complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) as a condition of site access.
