Purpose of an Originations Team Lead
The purpose of an Originations Team Lead is to mentor and guide the verification department as well verifying applicant income, reviewing deals, detecting potential fraud, and supporting smooth operational workflows. They act as both a subject matter expert and a team leader, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Responsibilities of an Originations Team Lead
Identify discrepancies and potential fraud through data analysis and transaction reviews.
Investigate anomalies, document findings, and audit calls/accounts for quality and compliance.
Share fraud trends and best practices with leadership.
Verify applicant income with employers and supporting documents.
Review credit, proof-of-income, and deal structures for accuracy and policy adherence.
Send banking links, manage account changes, and support funding requirements.
Maintain daily reports, analytics, and accurate data records.
Conduct research to validate financial information as needed.
Coach and support Income Analysts, manage escalations, and assist with scheduling and workloads.
Support Verification Managers and Supervisors with team guidance and process improvements.
Partner with Sales and respond to dealer and internal inquiries to help close deals.
Follow company policies and demonstrate accountability, integrity, speed, and innovation.
Support GPS Management.
Support tranche processing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of an Originations Team Lead
Supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data tracking tools.
Requirements of an Originations Team Lead
Availability of 8:00 am – 9:00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Saturdays
High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business, finance, or related field preferred.
Previous experience in automotive financing, income verification, or credit adjudication.
Compensation of an Originations Team Lead
Base Salary $45,000 annually
