• Manage and govern the administration of enterprise Oracle and MSSQL databases supporting business-critical applications.
• Lead and coordinate database topics including migrations, upgrades, consolidations, and modernization initiatives.
• Manage database lifecycle activities including planning, deployment, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
• Act as the primary contact for database-related topics for key customers (e.g., WaferFab Penang or other sites in APAC).
• Provide technical consulting and advisory services on database architecture, IT strategy, platform standards, and cost-benefit analysis.
• Translate customer requirements into scalable database solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
• Support design reviews and technical evaluation of customer projects such as data center failovers, application upgrades, and infrastructure transformations.
• Lead major incident management and escalation coordination with Oracle/Microsoft support.
• Maintain operational readiness by coordinating and supporting on-call activities during planned maintenance or critical situations when required.
• Drive continuous service improvements and operational efficiency within the database service portfolio.
• Work closely with vendors, platform teams, and Oracle support on critical issues and escalation handling.
 
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Technical Expertise:
• Strong experience managing Oracle databases (RAC, Data Guard, Multitenant) in enterprise environment
• Good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration and architecture.
• Experience with Linux (RHEL), networking, and storage infrastructure.
• Expertise in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Experience using Oracle diagnostic and analysis tools such as Trace File Analyzer (TFA), AWR, ASH, etc.
Project & Delivery Management:
• Proven experience managing database infrastructure projects, upgrades, and migrations.
• Strong understanding of database lifecycle management and platform governance.
• Ability to analyze customer requirements and design optimal database solutions with experts in the team.
• Experience working with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with vendor support and managing escalations.
Soft Skills:
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to act as a bridge between central IT teams and business customers.
• Team-oriented mindset with leadership and mentoring capability.
• Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
