Design the optics that shape how we see Earth from space

At SATLANTIS, we design advanced Optics and space technologies with one clear purpose: solving global challenges from above. From concept to orbit, our payloads deliver high-performance Earth observation data that supports sustainability, security, and scientific progress.

As an Optics Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and validating Optical systems for space instrumentation, transforming requirements into robust, flight-ready solutions that perform flawlessly in orbit.

What’s in it for you
Mission-driven Optics engineering: Your designs will become part of real satellite missions, contributing directly to how our planet is observed from space.
End-to-end technical ownership: Take Optical systems from early trade-offs and simulations to AIV and validation, seeing the full lifecycle of your work.
Challenging technical environment: Work on complex Optical systems across VIS, SWIR, and thermal ranges, where precision truly matters.
Flexible working hours: Autonomy and trust are core to how we work and collaborate.
Private health insurance: Comprehensive medical coverage so you can focus on what matters most.
Collaborative and international context: Engage with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams across borders.

Your mission

Your mission will be to design, analyze, and validate high-performance Optical systems for space instruments, ensuring they meet demanding technical requirements and deliver reliable performance throughout the mission lifetime.

Your work will directly impact the quality, robustness, and success of SATLANTIS’ Optical payloads in orbit.

You will:

Design Optical systems based on instrument-level requirements, balancing performance, feasibility, and robustness.
Study and evaluate different Optical design configurations, selecting optimal solutions through trade-off analyses.
Perform detailed Optical simulations and analyses, including image quality, stray light, and STOP analyses.
Design and implement AIV setups and procedures for optomechanical systems.
Produce clear and rigorous technical documentation, including calculations, analyses, test results, reports, and presentations.
Act as a technical interface with customers and suppliers, both nationally and internationally.

What will set you up for success
A strong foundation in optics: A degree in Optics, Physics, or Engineering with a specialization in optics gives you the theoretical and practical base to excel in complex Optics designs.
Experience designing Optical systems: Previous work in Optical system design (ideally for space instrumentation) helps you navigate performance constraints and environmental challenges with confidence.
Image quality expertise: Familiarity with metrics such as MTF, PSF, and WFE allows you to assess and optimize system performance effectively.
Broad spectral understanding: Experience with Optical sensors in the VIS, SWIR, and/or thermal ranges strengthens your ability to work across diverse payload needs.
Analytical mindset and rigor: You approach simulations, analyses, and documentation with precision, clarity, and attention to detail.
Advanced studies as a plus: A Master’s or PhD in Optics Engineering is highly valued and will accelerate your impact on complex projects.

Ready to design optics that fly in space?

If you’re excited about turning Optical concepts into flight-proven systems and want your work to make a real impact beyond Earth, apply now and join SATLANTIS in shaping the future of space-based observation.
