JOB SUMMARY: Working cross-functionally across the organization, the Operations Engineer / Supervisors are responsible for building and leading effective production teams and for execution of the overall manufacturing strategy. They must make sound real-time decisions, troubleshoot equipment issues and influence behaviors. Safety, quality, productivity, accountability, and the training and development of all production team members will be a focus for the individual in this role.
ADDITIONAL $5,000 Sign-On Bonus for English/Vietnamese fluency
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead the day-to-day production activities, coordinating with other departments
Responsible for adhering to production schedules and reporting causes and solutions for attainment shortfalls.
Utilize engineering principles to drive equipment reliability and operational efficiency
Identify bottlenecks in the line and develop actions to address them through analysis and observation.
Conduct root cause analysis of mechanical failure, injuries and other downtime or loss events
Responsible for creating a team-oriented atmosphere, inspiring team members to continually strive toward improvement.
Communicates performance to targets
Leads and manages changes to process and communicates pass-down information in a timely and positive manner.
Encourages the promotion of internal talent, offers development opportunities, and supports learning through coaching and feedback.
Responsible for ensuring new team members are progressing toward full competency;
Addresses and documents performance problems, progressive discipline, and delivers disciplinary actions.
Escalates serious or unresolved performance issues to Human Resources.
Responsible for communicating day-to-day Department or Company activities using the appropriate communication tools, including but not limited to, shift reports, huddles, creating or following up on work orders, coordinating work efforts with other Department Supervisors, and sharing pertinent information with Leads and others.
Responsible for correcting and/or reporting food safety issues and ensuring team members follow established SOPs and GMPs
Ensures positions specific data collection is performed accurately and on time
Audits Leads daily standard work; Monitors and corrects deviations from standards and base settings.
Responsible for ensuring Leads are trained to perform the essential functions of their position, and holding them accountable for the performance of their shift team members.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Food Science preferred
Leadership experience preferred, including sports team leadership
Experience in food manufacturing preferred
Bilingual a plus (Spanish, Vietnamese)
Understanding of basic mathematical calculations, reading, and record keeping
Ability to analyze machine operations and recommend or implement solutions
Strong communication skills, including delegation, performance, problem solving and conflict resolution
Ability to relate to, train and communicate in a variety of styles, comfortable with a culturally diverse work culture
Ability to understand and communicate in English
Ability to train & coach employees to drive performance
Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively
Ability to learn and apply company standards including, but not limited to, lock-out/tag-out, safety practices, SOPs, GMPs, employee handbook, etc.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Positions require standing, repetitive movement, bending and twisting, and using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; exposure to a variety of food allergens; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, ladders and powered industrial vehicles. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to stand for 85-90% of shift, sometimes up to 12 hours.
Must be able to work in an environment containing allergens, such as gluten, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and milk.
Must be able to ascend and descend stairways, ladders, and ramps.
Must be available for all shifts, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
