Operations Clerk - Kamloops

Job Summary:
With thousands of shipments moving across Western Canada each night, behind-the-scenes precision is everything, and that is where you come in. We are looking for an Operations Clerk to be the backbone of our morning shift team. In this fast-paced role, you will help ensure every shipment is tracked, processed, and moved with precision. From handling critical freight data to supporting our ops team with day-to-day coordination, you will play a key role in keeping things on track. About Us:
Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure timely and accurate handling of all inbound and outbound freight.

Perform accurate data entry for shipment details, freight documentation, and system updates.

Assist in preparing shipping and receiving documentation.

Support the evening operations team with administrative and clerical tasks.

Crosstrain and be available to work day shifts as needed (e.g., coverage for vacation or sick leave).

Qualifications:
Required:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Attention to details is a key function.

Ensure inbound and outbound freight is handled quickly and efficiently.

You thrive in a collaborative environment and can handle multiple tasks with a smile.

Handle phone calls, perform general clerk duties, and keep everything organized.

Keep detailed and accurate documentation like bills of lading and delivery receipts.

You’re excellent with people, whether it’s face-to-face or over the phone.

Well-organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.

Flexible and willing to learn and adapt to new processes.

 Preferred:

Experience in the freight, logistics, or transportation industry is an asset.

Familiarity with AS400 systems or other freight management platforms is an asset.

Prior clerical or operations support experience is preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
