Activ8 Solar Energies are actively seeking an experienced Utility & Commercial Solar PV Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager to join our C&I team here in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. The Opportunity:

The Commercial Solar PV O&M Manager will be responsible for leading the operations, maintenance, and performance optimisation of utility and commercial-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across Ireland, UK and EU.

This role is critical in ensuring maximum system uptime, optimal energy generation, and compliance with safety, regulatory, and client performance standards.

Responsibilities include:

Oversee day-to-day O&M activities across commercial and industrial solar PV systems.

Plan and manage preventative and corrective maintenance schedules.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and electrical standards (HSA, ESB Networks, CRU, I.S. 10101).

Monitor system performance using software (SMA, Huawei, Solis, etc.) and analyse data to resolve underperformance issues.

Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and coordination of remote diagnostics or on-site interventions.

Manage in-house technicians, subcontractors, and service providers.

Develop and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, site records, incident reports, and client communication.

Provide training, support, and performance reporting to stakeholders.

Support asset handover and onboarding of new sites, ensuring adherence to ISO and industry standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 etc.)

Qualifications/Key Skills

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, electrical trade qualification or equivalent experience essential.

Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, Prince2) an advantage

5+ years’ experience in utility and commercial Solar PV O&M and managing commercial-scale systems from 100 kWp–20 MW+.

Experience with SCADA/monitoring platforms, fault diagnostics, and grid-connected PV systems.

Proven experience leading technical teams and managing subcontractors.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and client communication skills.

Competent in MS Office, CMMS, and PV monitoring tools.

Full clean driver’s licence; willing to travel nationwide and stay overnight occasionally.

Knowledge of battery storage (BESS) and hybrid systems along with an understanding of PPAs, GHG reporting, and energy analytics is desirable.
