Tricon is seeking an Operations Analyst – Chartering & Charter Party Agreements in Mumbai.
Roles & Responsibilities
Lead the review and negotiation of all vessel fixtures (spot and COA) with a focus on securing competitive freight rates and minimizing exposure to risk.
Review and provide detailed comments on charter party agreements prior to fixture; ensure terms are commercially favorable and operationally sound.
Liaise closely with ship brokers, vessel owners, and Tricon’s commercial team to ensure optimal vessel selection and chartering outcomes.
Monitor and analyze freight markets, port performance, and vessel operations to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings.
Ensure timely fixture execution, including post-fixture follow-up and coordination with brokers/owners to address issues related to demurrage, laytime, or performance.
Support the commercial team with market intelligence and benchmarking to improve chartering strategy and decision-making.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of professional experience in vessel chartering, charter party review, or shipping operations.
Strong knowledge of charter party clauses, freight markets, and vessel operations.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively with brokers, owners, and internal stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to evaluate freight competitiveness, identify risks, and provide actionable insights.
Commercially minded with the ability to balance cost efficiency, operational practicality, and risk management.
