Job Description

The Operational Field Technician will be primarily responsible for the general management and maintenance of Spreading and Applicator equipment. The successful candidate will also at times assist the Picklogger and Field Technician teams, as determined by the seasonal demand for the Spreading and Applicator equipment.

Main Responsibilities

General management of Spreading and Applicator equipment.

Perform basic maintenance and repairs on Spreading and Applicator equipment.

Assisting depot with product distribution.

Assisting with Picklogger maintenance in season.

Collect soil, water, leaf, petiole, etc. samples from various farms as per relevant SOP.

Capture location data on Trimble or MYFARMWEB™ CAPTURE.

Complete the relevant online job card for every sample collected by accurately capturing data on the relevant form.

Ensure samples are sent to the correct laboratories.

Complete weekly machine checklists.

Ad Hoc or other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Capabilities

Able to perform basic maintenance and repairs

Excellent attention to detail

Comfortable with routine work but flexible enough to adjust to ad hoc situations

Exceptional time management and ability to work under pressure

Good communication skills

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to lift and carry > 12 pounds/6kg comfortably

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

National Senior Certificate

Agriculture Qualification will be advantageous

Experience

Proven mechanical experience is essential

Experience with agriculture will be advantageous

Other specific requirements

Must own or be able to acquire a suitable pickup truck (bakkie)

Full professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (speaking and writing)

Computer literate (Microsoft suite)

Must be available to work every second Saturday, as required

Must be willing to travel extensively, both locally and internationally

Must be prepared to work long hours when necessary
