Are you interested in joining a dynamic and international team of professionals to transform education? IE University's IE Library is looking for an Open Science Manager to join its team for a Temporary position!
We seek an experienced and proactive professional for a full-time, on-site, project-based fixed-term position to develop Open Science activities within the framework of the María de Guzmán Project (MDG-25-12058), linked to the duration and objectives of the project (18 months). The successful candidate will focus on training, awareness-raising, and operational support for the institutional open access repository.
The Manager will report to the Repository Manager and the Library Director.

We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid - IE Tower.
Responsibilities:
Your role as Manager will involve:
Design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the institutional Open Science training and awareness programme, including events and practical sessions for researchers, faculty, PhD students, and research support staff.
Creation and maintenance of training materials, guidelines, and learning resources related to:
Open access publishing (routes, versions, embargoes, copyright, and licensing).
Use of the institutional open access repository, including publication and research data deposit workflows.
Research data management and data management plans (DMPs) aligned with FAIR principles.
Persistent identifiers (ORCID, DOI, ROR, etc.).
Develop KPIs and metrics related to Open Science, repository usage, and engagement, using analytics to support continuous improvement.
Support institutional repository administration, including document ingestion, cataloguing, quality control, metadata curation, communities and collections management, as well as support for scholarly journals management.
Collaborate strategically with internal and external stakeholders to align Open Science services with institutional priorities and to contribute to national and international Open Science initiatives.
Ensure efficient day-to-day coordination of Open Science–related Library services, contributing to service quality, consistency, and user experience (UX)
Qualifications:
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
An official master’s degree, preferably in Library and Information Science, Scholarly Communication, or a related field.
Proven professional experience in academic or research libraries, or research support environments, with a leadership or coordination role in Open Science, scholarly communication, research data management, or related areas.
Strong knowledge of Open Science principles, including Open Access, FAIR data, research data management, and responsible research assessment.
Experience with metadata standards and formats (Dublin Core, DataCite, MARC21, JSON, XML), repository platforms (DSpace), and metadata curation practices.
Technical knowledge of Open Journal Systems (OJS) and editorial workflows for academic journals.
Demonstrated knowledge of metadata standards and schemas, persistent identifier (PID) systems (e.g. DOI, ORCID, ROR), copyright, and open licensing frameworks (Creative Commons).
Hands-on experience with institutional repositories and familiarity with repositories and aggregators (OpenAIRE, Recolecta, LaReferencia), metadata infrastructures, open publishing and journal platforms, data and open science infrastructures (i.e. OSF), and open metrics and research evaluation systems and tools (OpenAlex, OpenCitations).
Proficiency with scholarly communication, bibliometric indicators, and bibliographic and citation databases (including Scopus, Web of Science, etc.) and awareness of alternative sources of information about research outputs.
Experience designing and delivering training programmes and developing learning materials.
Enthusiastic, strategic, and committed to advancing Open Science within the academic community.
In-depth knowledge of scholarly communication and the research life cycle.
Ability to define priorities, manage multiple initiatives, and work collaboratively across teams.
Excellent verbal and written English skills.
Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Candidates must hold a valid EU work permit.
