Job Description

Support young people to make positive choices and gain independence
Build your knowledge and experience supporting case managers across home based care
Casual roles, based at Dandenong, join our casual pool, SCHCADS level 3

About the Role:

A Youth Mentor works with clients within the out of home care sector, they act as a positive role model in supporting young people to engage in pro-social activities and to assist in the development of independent life and living skills. As a Youth Mentor, you will work closely with case managers and the care team to help provide the best outcomes for our young people. Some of the general tasks include:

Working with case managers to support and maintain placement
Transporting young people to school and/or appointments,
Working with young people to set, develop and work towards their own goals
Supporting care givers
Provide creative respite to placement through outreach and linking in with community activities
Creating positive memories for children in care

How you’ll Make your Mark:

Engage with young people over the phone and in person
Act as a respectful and positive role model for young people who have experience significant trauma
Use knowledge of Best Interest Principles as outlined within the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
Put skills and knowledge gained from a minimum of a Certificate IV in Community Services or Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Youth Work or similar

The important stuff:

SCHADS Level 3
Varying hours that may include weekends (penalty rates paid)
Office location: Dandenong with outreach across the southeast
You must have a drivers license.
Pool cars available for you to use.
