Position Summary
We are recruiting an Onsite Safety Advisor/First Aid Attendant for a project in Prince George, BC to provide on-site support and ensure that the worksite meets or exceeds safety requirements. The successful candidate will be Advanced First Aid certified. Must be local to the area and provide their own cell phone and transportation to the worksite.
The length of the project is tentatively 10 months with the possibility of extension, depending on construction progress. The position will be full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, occasional Saturday may be required. Flexibility and overtime will be required.
Job Description
Provide first aid as per WorkSafe BC legislation at the worksite
Supervision of all workers both Eagle and sub-trades daily to correct unsafe acts and ensure safety conscience attitudes and work
Complete daily site inspections, review hazard assessments and maintain updated onsite safety paperwork
Ensure first aid is available and kits in stock, as well as fire extinguishers readily available and in working condition
Conduct toolbox meetings to increase awareness of specific safety hazards
Investigation and follow-up of all incidents, first aid recorders, and near-misses
Complete site-specific and sub-trade orientations
Assist onsite site supervisor with tasks as needed
Maintain effective communication with onsite workers, site supervisor, safety manager, and other field safety advisors
Liaison between site workers and the Site Designate
Housekeeping and general construction duties
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Requirements
Advanced First Aid ticket
Previous experience working in construction and familiarity with construction sites
Valid Class 5 license, acceptable abstract, and reliable transportation
Available to work Monday – Friday, occasional Saturday
Minimum 44 hours per week, must be flexible and willing to work overtime
Must be local to the Prince George area
Expected to supply their own mobile device (Laptop will be provided)
Proficient in both verbal and written English communication
Ability to maintain effective work relationships
Outstanding organizational skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Assets
Knowledge of WorkSafe BC, WHMIS 2015, and related legislation
General construction knowledge
