The Onsite Gate Attendant is responsible for controlling and monitoring access to the construction jobsite. This role ensures all subcontractors, vendors, delivery personnel, and visitors entering the site have proper credentials, are logged accurately, and receive badges as required. The Gate Attendant plays a key role in maintaining jobsite security, safety compliance, and accurate workforce documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Access Control & Verification
Greet all individuals entering the jobsite in a professional, courteous manner.
Verify credentials for all subcontractors, vendors, delivery drivers, inspectors, and visitors before granting access.
Ensure all personnel have completed required orientation or have active approvals on file.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of approved subcontractor rosters and access lists.
Badging & Documentation
Issue daily or project-specific badges when necessary.
Collect badges as required by site policy.
Maintain accurate logs of individuals entering and exiting the site, including company name, trade, purpose, and time of arrival.
Report badge discrepancies or lost credentials promptly.
Jobsite Safety & Compliance Support
Confirm that individuals entering the site are properly equipped with required PPE (e.g., hard hats, safety vests, boots).
Provide basic safety reminders aligned with site rules.
Assist project leadership with monitoring compliance related to access and credentialing.
Communication & Coordination
Serve as the first point of contact at the jobsite entrance, directing individuals to the correct areas or personnel.
Notify the superintendent or safety team of unauthorized access attempts or safety concerns.
Coordinate with subcontractors to resolve credentialing issues or badge requirements.
Recordkeeping & Reporting
Maintain daily access logs in accordance with company procedures.
Submit end-of-day reports summarizing personnel counts, vendor activity, and any incidents.
Support project administration with workforce tracking reports as needed.
Qualifications
Prior experience in security, construction, or a similar gatekeeping role preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and attentive in a busy environment.
Basic knowledge of construction site safety practices (training provided if needed).
Ability to use sign-in software, tablets, or badge systems (training provided).
Reliable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs (e.g., boxes of badges or documents).
Must be comfortable working in an active construction environment.
