One - on -One Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team at our Chemainus location as a Part-Time One-on-One Support Worker. In this role, you will work closely with a preschool aged child who requires emotional support, providing guidance and direction during playtime activities. Your primary responsibility will be to create a supportive and engaging environment that fosters positive interactions and helps the child develop essential social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage with the child in various play activities, including games, arts and crafts, and outdoor play, while encouraging positive behavior and social interactions.

Implement behavioral management strategies tailored to the individual needs of each child, promoting self-regulation and conflict resolution skills.

Collaborate with other members of the support team, including parents, teachers, and therapists, to ensure consistency and continuity in the children's care and development.

Document and communicate observations of the children's behavior and progress to the appropriate stakeholders.

Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.

Qualifications:

Previous experience working with children, particularly those with behavioral challenges, is preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with children and their families.

Patience, empathy, and flexibility in responding to the unique needs and preferences of each child.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Willingness to undergo a Criminal Record Check (CRC).

Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
