On-Site Field Engineer
Position Highlights
We are looking for a local hands-on field service technician to support our Network Operations Team at a Lufthansa Technik location in Hamburg.
You will support and maintain critical network infrastructures, including switches, wireless
access points, their power supply systems, and structured cabling.
This role requires a strong technical understanding and excellent communication skills in
German and English.
Taking this role,
You Will Have the Opportunity To
Install, configure, and maintain network switches, access points, and related infrastructure at the airport site
Handle power connections safely, manage optical (fiber) cabling and copper patch cabling, including terminations, labeling, and testing
Provide basic network support— basic understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, like ICMP, DHCP, ARP, STP, MAC learning, VLANs, IPv4 Routing etc.
Work closely with central IT and vendors to coordinate equipment delivery, installation scheduling, and issue escalation
Document installation sites—e.g., floor plans, cable runs, device labels—and keep accurate service logs
Act as a technical bridge between on-site teams and a remote NOC team
Maintain safety and security compliance under aviation facility standards and SOPs.
What You Bring
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) certification or similar would be desirable. Higher certification will be considered as a strong plus, although not a must.
Proven experience in installing, staging/configuring, and troubleshooting switches, wireless APs, power, and cabling (fiber and copper).
Authorization and willingness to work in compliance with airport security protocols (background checks, badge access).
Physical readiness and ability to work in distribution cabinets, crawl spaces, industrial infrastructure zones, and confined spaces.
Fluency in English - able to read manuals, report incidents, and collaborate with technical teams in English Language
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
High resilience and ability to organize and plan complex workflows and/or issues.
Highly Desirable/ Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in airport or high-security environments
Understanding of aviation industry infrastructure or similar site-security environments
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification would be a plus
Experience with Lucid Chart or Microsoft Visio
