In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Medic
The Site Medic is responsible for providing immediate medical care, emergency response, and occupational health support to employees at the mining operation. The Medic ensures compliance with health and safety standards, maintains medical facilities and supplies, and promotes a safe and healthy work environment at the mine site.
Key Responsibilities
1. Emergency Medical Response
Provide immediate first aid and emergency medical treatment for injuries and illnesses.
Respond promptly to workplace accidents, medical emergencies, and trauma incidents.
Stabilize patients and coordinate evacuation to external medical facilities when required.
Maintain emergency response readiness at all times.
2. Occupational Health Services
Conduct routine health screenings (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, health assessments).
Monitor and document employee health conditions.
Assist in managing workplace injuries and return-to-work programs.
Support drug and alcohol testing programs (if required).
3. Medical Facility & Equipment Management
Maintain and manage the site medical clinic.
Ensure adequate stock of medical supplies, medications, and first aid kits.
Conduct regular inspections of emergency equipment (stretchers, oxygen kits, AEDs, etc.).
Keep accurate medical records and incident reports.
4. Health & Safety Support
Participate in emergency drills and site safety exercises.
Provide first aid training to employees where required.
Support HSE initiatives and promote health awareness campaigns.
Assist in incident investigations involving medical cases.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain confidential medical records.
Prepare medical and incident reports as required by management.
Ensure compliance with local health regulations and company policies.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Registered Nurse (RN), or equivalent medical qualification.
Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in emergency response, preferably in industrial, mining, oil & gas, or remote environments
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
Ability to work in remote locations and on rotational shifts.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Physically fit and capable of responding to emergencies in challenging terrain.
Working Conditions
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14days on/7 days Off
Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
