In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West Project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of: Security Manager
Job Summary
Reporting to the Camp/Site Services Manager, the kitchen Executive Chef is responsible for playing the head role in the daily operations of the kitchen and providing leadership & direction and driving the kitchen team.
Working Conditions
The Executive Chef position at the OKO West project site in Guyana will be a rotation-based role, offering flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the successful candidate’s location and personal preferences. A 23 on/19 off rotation is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Plan all tasks for the Supervisor, Cook level 1,2 & 3 and kitchen attendants.
Able to give training to the supervisor, cooks and attendants
Operate all kitchen equipment and train others in the operation of all equipment.
Develop menu planning and introduction of new recipes
Make sure all dishes are prepared according to standardized recipes
Food cost controls and waste controls
Coordinate and facilitate the field lunch room meals
Ensure total general cleaning of all kitchen areas.
Comply with hygienic and sanitary standards as well as safety at work
Ensure timely serve of food on the service line during meal periods.
Report to the Camp Manager if something is broken or damaged and create work-order notifications
Inventory management and stock par levels calculations
Must adhere to the safety policy/standards of the company and Newmont values.
Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers (employees onsite)
Responsible for the daily timesheet
Assist HR (disciplinary) actions when needed
Participate in work and shift handover with colleague’s Local Chef
Assist with inventory management together with the Supervisors
Anticipate and manage conflicts in the kitchen and adapt to the different personalities
Qualifications and Skill Requirements
1. Experience
Minimum 5 years of working in high volume kitchen operations in comparable position.
2. Knowledge
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Must possess good computer skills
Cooks school diploma
Food handler certified
Good comprehension of the English Language (both written and verbal)
