Our Profile
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Rodperson
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Rodperson to join our Mine Maintenance Department. The Rodperson will be responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, and inspection of various mining equipment and infrastructure. The role involves ensuring equipment is functioning optimally and supporting ongoing maintenance projects in the mine.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of mining equipment such as pumps, conveyors, and ventilation systems.
Rod Installation: Install, maintain, and inspect rods used in mining operations, ensuring that all installations comply with safety and operational standards.
Support Team: Work alongside maintenance technicians and engineers to support mining operations through preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs performed. Assist in tracking equipment performance and parts inventory.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all tasks are performed safely, following established safety protocols and guidelines. Promote a safe working environment for all team members.
Troubleshooting: Identify potential issues with mining equipment and machinery, reporting any problems to the supervisor for prompt resolution.
Tools and Equipment Handling: Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment needed for rod installations and other maintenance tasks.
Reporting: Provide daily updates on the status of maintenance projects, including progress, challenges, and areas requiring attention.
Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the maintenance team, contractors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
High School Diploma
Previous experience in mining, construction, or a maintenance-related field is preferred.
Technical Skills: Basic understanding of mining equipment, tools, and maintenance procedures.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and tools. Comfortable working in confined or challenging environments.
Safety Training: Knowledge of safety practices in a mining environment. Previous safety certification is a plus.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to ensure the equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently.
Working Conditions
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off
Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
