Our Profile
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Rodbuster/Steel Bender
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Rodbuster/Steel Bender to join our construction team. As a Rodbuster/Steel Bender, you will be responsible for the accurate placement, assembly, and securing of rebar and steel reinforcement on construction projects. You will play a key role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the buildings, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure projects we work on.
Key Responsibilities
Rebar Installation: Lay out, cut, bend, and tie rebar and steel reinforcement according to blueprints and project specification.
Reinforcement Assembly: Assemble steel reinforcement cages, mats, and other structures to
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate placement and alignment of rebar.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risks. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other trades and construction workers to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth project execution.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and other machinery required for bending, cutting, and positioning rebar.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all rebar placement meets industry standards and is done with precision to guarantee structural integrity.
Worksite Maintenance: Help in general construction duties, including organizing materials and maintaining worksite cleanliness.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
Technical certificate and or equivalent experience in construction or steel work.
At least 2 years working within construction project/mining.
Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics, with the ability to precisely measure and cut rebar.
Ability to work in physically demanding environments, lifting heavy materials, and standing or bending for long periods.
Strong understanding of safety procedures and best practices in the construction industry.
Experience using hand and power tools for rebar assembly and placement.
Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
Working Conditions
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
Compensation Package
2-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
