Our Profile
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Rigger
The Rigger, you will be responsible for directing the movement of heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring proper communication between operators and ground personnel to maintain safety and operational efficiency on job sites. The role is essential to avoid accidents and ensure that construction, mining, or industrial operations run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate with equipment operators using hand signals, two-way radios, or other communication tools to direct movement of heavy machinery.
Ensure all machinery operates within established safety protocols and local regulations.
Signal operators indicate directions for loading, unloading, or other heavy equipment operations.
Maintain clear communication with supervisors, equipment operators, and other team members to ensure safety.
Monitor job site conditions, ensuring obstacles or hazards are identified and reported.
Observe equipment movements and provide signals to prevent collisions or damage to property, equipment, and personnel.
Verify that equipment is operating within manufacturer and safety standards.
Record and report any safety violations, accidents, or incidents in accordance with company policies.
Assist with loading/unloading or setting up when necessary.
Ensure that the work area remains organized and clear of debris to allow for safe operations.
Collaborate with supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and troubleshooting when needed.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
Rigging certification.
At least 6 months experience working in a construction project/mining.
Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Strong situational awareness and ability to assess the job site quickly.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to react to emergency situations.
Physical fitness and the ability to work in varied weather conditions and environments.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
Working Conditions
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
Compensation Package
2-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
